Acer Unveils Acer Aspire 8935G Notebook

Notebooks are quire in demand today and apparently there is another one in the market from Acer. This new notebook, the Acer Aspire 8935G Notebook joins the lines of new and middle class notebooks in the market today, specifically for business and multimedia purposes.

And with quite an array of notebooks being preferred mainly due to its mobility in being able to accommodate and be flexible in the various tasks needed by yuppies today, nothing beats the reliability of a tested brand like Acer.

Some specifications of the machine are not announced at this time. What we do know is that the machine will use Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs, run Windows Vista Home Premium, and sports a massive 18.4-inch LCD.

The LCD has 1920 x 1080p resolution and a Blu-ray burner is built-in to take advantage of that resolution. Other features include an 8-cell battery, backlit keyboard, graphics via ATI Radeon HD 4670 and more. The downside is that the machine is massive weighing in at 10.1 pounds. The 8935G is set to launch in June at unspecified pricing.

New Microsoft SideWinder X3 Mouse Unveiled

Microsoft’s SideWinder family has a new member in their fold. The new product is the Microsoft SideWinder X3 Mouse, which combines gaming performance and versatile design at a value price of $39.95.

This ambidextrous, eight-button gaming mouse delivers comfort for either hand along with the performance features fans of SideWinder products know and love, including a 2,000 dots-per-inch (dpi) laser-tracking engine with on-the-fly dpi switching between high, medium and low sensitivity. The SideWinder X3 Mouse is easy on the wallet, but it does not skimp on performance, offering gamers a full set of features and launching them ahead of the competition.

The SideWinder X3 Mouse will be widely available in May for an estimated retail price of $39.95 (U.S.). The mouse is available now for pre-sale on Amazon.com and will ship in May when it is released.

Toshiba Satellite Pro S300-EZ2521Laptop

Toshiba comes out with another great laptop to consider getting. Toshiba added to their S300 line today with their Satellite Pro S300-EZ2521. It’s a perfectly decent laptop, but doesn’t fall squarely in that much-talked about “high-end” category or much-revered “low cost but decent specs” category. Rather, it’s just somewhere in the middle.

This laptop is pretty average when it comes to specs. Measuring in at 15.4-inches, it features a 250GB hard drive, 3GB of DDR2 RAM, a WXGA resolution panel, GMA 4500MHD graphics and a SuperMulti DVD burner. Other features include Wi-Fi, a web-cam that’s built-in and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. And that’s really about it.

This laptop from Toshiba may seem to be the ultimate solution focused on the business market. But today, we are all aware that the business sector is aching for various demands as far as mobile computing is concerned. And from the past years, we all know that Toshiba has focused its genre in the business market although some people may want to have it for some other purpose.

Netbooks Being Sold under $49.99

If you can buy a netbook for under $50, then by all means go for it. Add to the fact that it is also brand new and surely you will see customers swarming to get one!

When you hear of popular gadget such as Netbooks being offered at $49.99, the loose ends are the immediate concern of interested parties. For AT&T, it is about tying up the consumers on their end with data service contract plans. In short, it is a marketing ploy to entice subscriptions for AT&T.

The wireless provider is offering subsidized netbooks for as little as $49.99 in two markets, Atlanta and Philadelphia. The catch is that buyers must sign a two-year contract for an AT&T data service plan, which starts at about $60/month. As usual, the devil is in the details, and these low-cost netbooks, despite their tempting price, may not be a good buy for everyone.

What does $49.99 get you? An Acer Aspire One with an 8.9-inch display, 1GB of memory, and a 160GB hard drive. A quality netbook, certainly, but the catch is that you have to sign a two-year deal for AT&T’s Internet at Home & On the Go service, which starts at $59.95 a month. My gripe with this plan is that its home service is DSL at a poky 768Kbps. Besides, if my netbook has built-it 3G mobile broadband, why should I bother with DSL at all?

The package also includes 3G wireless, but the monthly data limit is just 200MB — fine for occasional remote access, but not enough for full-time use. Need more 3G? You can upgrade to a two-year DataConnect plan, which ups the monthly data cap to a healthy 5GB. Ah, but doing so doubles the Aspire One’s price to $99.99.

AT&T sells the Aspire One with no plan for $449.99, and it has similar subsidized plans for other netbooks. The Dell Mini 9, for instance, starts at $99.99. At the high end, a Lenovo Thinkpad X200 starts at $749.99.

The move to cellphone-style pricing for netbooks has been in the works for some time. Radio Shack already offers a $100 Aspire One with a two-year mobile broadband plan, and Verizon is reportedly working on similar deals.

Acer Aspire One 11.6-inch Netbook

This notebook is one of the highly anticipated netbooks expected to hit the market and apparently it is going to be available officially. Acer has finally taken the wraps off of their 11.6-inch netbook, the predictably-named Acer Aspire One 11.6. The subject of numerous photo-leaks over the past months, the 11.6-inch Aspire One packs the usual Intel Atom processor, paired with the Mobile Intel US15W Express Chipset, 160GB hard-drive and WiFi b/g, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity.

With so much anticipation and frenzy going on over this new offering from Acer, mobile geeks are bound to know that this device promises a lot of catchy features. With all the aforementioned specs above fitted in such a small gadget, you can just imagine the demand for this soon to be released netbook.

All that is packed into a chassis just 2.5cm thick. Acer also include a soft-touch keyboard, Dolby Pro Logic sound and an LED backlit WXGA display; the whole thing weighs just over one kilo and can run for up to 8hrs on the 6-cell 5,200mAh battery. We’re not entirely sure which Atom CPU Acer have picked; previous rumors tipped it as the Z530.

To make these netbooks thinner and to improve portability, the VGA and LAN doors were placed in the back angles of casing for comfortable access to cable management. Portal icons were printed on the borders to identify them more easily and to make them visible even when the cover is closed. One last practical detail: the touchpad is ‘multi-gesture’, allowing you to leaf through pages in the same manner as of a newspaper and allowing you to zoom with just a touch.

Get a computer that you can put on your wrist. Possible? Yes it is thanks to Glacier’s W200 wrist computers. This technology is not surprising. We are at a stage where computers are getting compact and smaller by the day and apparently Glacier is leading the pack as far as miniature size is concerned.

Features of this futuristic device include a 3.5-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, GPS, a backlit keyboard, Linux or Windows CE and more. This is essentially a low-powered computer that can be literally strapped to you at just about all times. It also includes a motion sensor and an electronic compass, making it the perfect choice for those that like to go backpacking, or what have you.

As most concept devices, this is still not officially underway. But you can be sure that once the developers find a way to fit in and find the periperhals needed to make it tick, this device is going to be a hot commodity in the market. That is if ever it does gets done.

It is actually available now. The whole lot costs a whopping $3,000.00. Not that easy to buy considering one would think first before spending a fortune on such a PC bundle with no assurance that system requirements may soon buck a higher demand. Besides, it has been a trend to see such PCs depreciate in time and for the wise buyers, chances are they will wait a little bit more before buying this crazy device.

Dell Unveils Customizable Desktops

For the average computer user, some could care less on how their desktop looks like. But don’t tell that to Dell as they have unveiled a couple of great designs that the average Joe is bound to fall for. Dell first started out as a maker of computers that users could customize with the exact hardware that they desired. Dell made its name on the customization options it offered buyers. More recently, Dell has been letting shoppers customize not only the hardware inside the notebook or desktop, but has been offering custom colors and designs on the exterior of the computer as well.

Dell has announced new Inspiron desktop computers called the Inspiron slim and mini-tower. The new machines can be customized with eight different colors that completely cover the front panel of the computer. Dell says it is the only major computer maker allowing users to color customize a desktop computer.

For sure, most computer geeks are going to want one of these customizable desktops coming in different colors and themes suitable for the taste and requirement that each wants. They seem to carry the sleek and slim design and apparently the issue of space allocation is obviously covered as well.

AMD Ready to Launch Pisces Desktop Platform

AMD is set to have something great for entry-level computer buyers with the launch of their Pisces platform from Taiwan. Pisces is said to incorporate AMD’s Athlon II processors ; Propus, Rana and Regor – and a new 55nm-based 780G+ IGP chipset, together with the ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU.

That 780G+ chipset is set to go into design validation this month, according to the sources. Motherboards using the design will then be showcased at Computex Taipei 2009 in June; AMD has only committed to launching Pisces in the second-half of 2009, as part of the AMD Live! range. While Pisces is an entry-level solution, it’s nonetheless expected to support above-1080p resolutions, 7.1-channel surround sound and 3D visuals.

Considering the vast array of desktop options that techies are looking for in the market today, this new AMD technology is a great desktop alternate for the usual Intel processors that everyone prefers. For sure though, price will vary and chances are this is a great desktop that start-up technology investing people should really consider getting especially during the hard times we are in right now.

While the launch is leaving everyone clueless on when to make further reviews and decisions, once this platform hits the market, expect a fair share of demands for it. AMD has proven it can stand in line with Intel based processors and apparently this is one desktop platform people will be looking out for.
