Panzerbox from NZXT

For efficient gaming storage, ventilation and making sure that all components get the proper airflow is essential. We have seen a lot of modern designed desktop cases but one that deserves recognition is the Panzerbox. The pure aluminum Panzerbox has the capacity and power of a full-size tower, but weights only 6.3 kilos/14 pounds in a much compact mid-size tower with dimensions of 244 x 445 x 445 mm.

Most LAN cases lack airflow due to inadequate space, but not the Panzerbox. Inside the all black interior, there are two oversized 190mm and one 120mm fans that churn out a combined 300 Cubic Feet per Minute air flow, along with oversized heatsinks to optimize component cooling. Motherboard tray is removable, conveniently designed for much easy installation, and storage option is available from three external 5.25 inch and four internal 3.5 inch drive bays. A top-mount external I/O panel offers connectivity from USB, Audio to e-SATA ports.

The new NZXT Panzerbox Lan case is slated to ship next month for a suggested retail price of $120.

Acer Predator Gaming PCs Recalled

No thanks to a potential fire hazard, Acer has issued a recall on their Acer Predator Gaming PCs. It seems that there is a problem with the insulation on some of the wiring within the computer gets stripped somehow and then leads to a short circuit. Then, the components inside melt or the exterior casing melts. Both things are most certainly not supposed to happen.

The models affected are the ASG7200 and the ASG7700 that were sold between May and December of 2008. If you purchased your Acer Predator during this time frame, contact Acer for a free repair of the problem. Only 215 units are suspected to be affected, but it’s still a hazard gamers should know about.

While we all have a high level or requirement for higher specs and also better performing PCs, safety comes first. There is no sense in having a high-end computer if there are issues concerning the system you are using to which it may eventually cost you more than just a defective computer for replacement. It may go to the extent of causing physical injuries or even worst loss of property and belongings such issues be unaccounted for and remedied.

Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C2200

All in one printers and multi-tasking printers are growing in popularity and FujiXerox provides another option in the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C2200. Long known in the business, Fuji Xerox’s DocuPrint C2200 color laser printer offers better print speeds and quality compared to low-end color lasers, but its price we would have liked to see some more features included as standard.

The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C2200 is quite tall, as its four toners are aligned vertically rather than the horizontally like the HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn. This isn’t unusual for a color laser printer, and it makes the toners easily accessible. With high capacity yields reaching to 9000 pages each you won’t have to change them too often, however. You should expect a running cost of around 19.3c per A4 page during normal use.

The printer offers USB and Ethernet connectivity and can hold up to 400 sheets in a front paper cassette and multi-purpose fold-out tray. Other worthwhile features are optional, however. These include an automatic duplex unit, increased paper capacity, a 40GB hard disk and a 512MB memory upgrade (for a total of 768MB). With these options added, this color laser printer becomes more functional but much more expensive.

The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C2200 has a two-line monochrome LCD panel and a four-button navigation pad. Like many networked laser printers, obtaining information about network settings requires you to print out a report.

If you need a durable color laser printer with decent security and good print quality, the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C2200 is a viable option, but it would be nice if some of the optional extras were included as standard.

Gigabyte Touch Note M1028

We have been seeing a lot of new trendy laptops these days. Other than boasting of higher specs and powerful components, the touch screen and screen mobility has become readily apparent and noticeable. Gigabyte showed this to us when they unveiled their initial M912 and now they are coming up with a new one in the M1028.

the Gigabyte Touch Note M1028 has an 10.1-inch swiveling touchscreen, comes with up to Intel’s 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor and has a 160GB hard-drive. Connectivity includes WiFi a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.1, and in the case of the M1028G there’s 3.5G and WiMAX connectivity. All four run Windows XP Home, have three USB 2.0 ports and an ExpressCard slot, and there’s a choice of two batteries: a 4,500mAh 4-cell pack or a 7,650mAh 6-cell pack. Weight with the former is 1.3kg, while with the latter it’s 1.48kg.

Four versions of the convertible were announced, two – the M1028M and M1028G – with a WSVGA 1024 x 600 display, and two – the M1028X and M1028P – with a WXGA 1366 x 768 display. Each has 1GB of DDR2 memory (2GB maximum) and the Intel 945GSE graphics chipset, except for the M1028P which has the HD-capable GN40 chipset.

No word on pricing for the Gigabyte tablets or which models we might see in the US and when. Still, our brief hands-on with them suggested they have very usable keyboards and responsive touchscreens, and the extra real-estate over the original M912 is welcome when you’re dealing with bigger on-screen buttons for your finger to poke at.

Asus EEE Keyboar-Computer Released

Just how important is a keyboard? Well keyboards are the standard modes of interface and normally, people could care less of what makes them different from others. In fact, it seems that most keyboards are alike and it is just the brands that are vying for price comparison.

There are also keyboards that vary in terms of crisp and keystrokes. Some computer users prefer softer and some great key stroke pads that make composing and typing a breeze. In short, there will always be a specific requirement that keyboards have and apparently that is why some manufacturers vary in pricing.

As for the latest keyboard in the market, Asus has unveiled one of its own. Just recently, they have released the Eee keyboard, a computer built entirely into a keyboard. Many caught a glimpse of it at the recently concluded CES and it offers something different.

This isn’t the first computer to be crammed inside of a keyboard, however, it’s most certainly the best-looking to date. Packing a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and either a 16GB or 32GB SSD drive, this will be comparable to some of the other Eee line. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, Wireless HDMI and a 5-inch touchscreen. It also has a regular HDMI port, VGA, 3 USB ports and audio in/out jacks. We’re still not sure what the price tag is going to be, but if they can keep the pricing close to what we’ve seen in some of the other Eee products, this could be very promising.

Logitech Z-5 Omnidirectional PC Speakers

PC Speakers would certainly be the last thing that people would spend for. Although some people still have some brand preference such as Altec Lansing and Labtec, Logitech has joined the fray with these new Omnidirectional PC speakers to perk up sound for gaming and multimedia playback using the traditional PC.

These omnidirectional speakers use the same technology that is incorporated in today’s hi-fi home theatre systems to produce real life surround effects. The Logitech Z-5 speakers use forward- and backward-firing drivers to transmit sound evenly in all directions.

This means the person sitting in the corner will experience the same level of fidelity, depth and bass as the person sitting in the centre or sides feel. Whether you are listening to your favourite track or watching movie, the Z-5 makes sure that you get bass rich sound vibes with minimal distortion at every place in the room.

The brand may direct you towards interface devices and this product may seem experimental. But if you think about it, evening the sound output seems to be a catchy twist that this speakers have to offer and if you really want to spruce up your PC sound playback, check it out and get something different for your audio requirements.
