DFI LanParty Pro 875 Review, Page 2.

Board Layout, cont:

DFI has implemented power and reset buttons on the board, very much like the high end ABIT boards like the IT7-MAX2. This is only useful when bench testing the board outside of a case. It isn't of much use otherwise, but still a nice feature to have if you need it. The rear I/O panel is pretty standard with PS/2, serial and parallel, and USB ports, as well as the Gigabit LAN, and sound jacks.

As with most high end motherboards, the LanParty Pro875 comes with two Serial ATA ports on board. Unfortunately, I have still not gotten a SATA drive to test with at this point, but it's good to know that as soon as I get one, I can hook it up and not have to mess with adapters. Another nice feature of this board is that it comes with the FrontX panel which has brings USB and audio ports to the front of the case, and both can be connected directly to the motherboard. I have seen some front panels in which you have to run audio cables through the case, and out the back to plug them into the sound card. With the Pro875, DFI saves you the hassel and puts all the connections on the board.

BIOS:

The DFI LanParty Pro875 comes with Pheonix AwardBIOS. In my opinion, this is the only feature that could use improvement on this board. Compared to Abit's SoftMenu III, this BIOS is pretty generic. Although it does offer decent overclocking options, some of them are a little confusing. Here are the main menu and PC Health Status screens.

The advanced BIOS Features is pretty standard, but note the Enable/Disable Hyperthreading feature. This is something you won't see on AMD based boards.

There are quite a few choices for memory timings. Not only can you set individual timings, but you can set the base speed to DDR266, DDR320, or DDR400 independently from the front side bus speed.

The Genie BIOS is what most overclockers will be interested in. Here is where you can set CPU speed, vcore voltage, and some minor AGP and memory voltage adjustment. The CPU FSB can be set anywhere from 200MHz to 400MHz. Quad pumped = 800 - 1200MHz!

CPU voltage adjustment is measured in mV (millivolts). This is very different from anything I have seen previously. But since the base core voltage is 1.5 volts, it's easy enough to do the math. +350mV would be 1.85 volts. The AGP and DDR overvoltage options are pretty slim. You can only up the voltage by 1/10th of a volt on each option.
