FORSA FX5600 128MB

Review Date: August 30, 2003

Introduction:

FORSA is a brand name that I have truthfully have never heard of until now. They are a growing company that will start selling their line of FX video cards in the states in September at Powernode.com. The FORSA brand is a product of Geniman International Limited (GIL) which is based in Hong Kong. The current line of FORSA cards includes the FX5200, FX5600, and FX5900 Ultra - all three of which will be reviewed here at PCExtreme this week.

Packaging:

The box has some really nice looking graphics on it.  The Nvidia fairy is always nice of course but a few things that stood out on the box is the DVI connection, TV-OUT, and the lighted cooling fan.  A mod that is included on a stock card?  Sounds like my kind of card.  The card inside has cardboard as protection which was thin but I have seen a lot worse in packaging fragile computer hardware. I found the following in the box.
  • The card.
  • The driver CD.
  • PowerDVD.
  • Games Try-out CD - Includes demos of: Age of Wonders II, Beam Breakers, Myth III: The Wolf Age, Rally Trophy, Stronghold Crusader and Zax.
  • DVI - to - VGA adapter.
  • Video-Out Cable.
  • User manual.

The card:

The card really is quite impressive.  The fan on the GPU looks like it can take care of this card with ease and even perhaps over clocked.  Find out a bit later how that goes.  Also take a look at all the connections on this board.  My 9700 Pro comes with all of these connections and it's a high dollar card.
