Inno3D Tornado FX5200 128MB - Page2.

Here is the FX 5200 GPU core. On Inno3ds website it says the GPU is supposed to run at 350Mhz, if I'm not too mistaken. But, this is what the card settings are out of the box:

OK, now I am confused. But, this explains why the card can run with just a heatsink and no fans. Let's bump it up to 350Mhz to see what happens...

Ooops! Looks like we will need some active cooling to run at that speed.

These are the actual FX clock speeds taked from the nVidia website:

  • FX5200 250/400
  • FX5200 Ultra 325/650
  • FX5600 325/700
  • FX5600 Ultra 350/700
  • FX5800 400/800
  • FX5800 Ultra 500/1000

So perhaps the 350Mhz clock rate on Inno3D's website is a typo. At any rate, 250Mhz is the correct clock speed for this GPU.

This card is well endowed with 128MB of Samsung DDR memory, which should be enough to handle just about any texture in most modern 3D games. I only wish the heatsink was designed to touch the ram and cool it as well.

Performance:

Before we start the benchmarks, let go over the 3D features of this card:

CineFX™ Engine :
  • Produces gaming effects on par with the hottest motion pictures.
  • Vertex Shaders 2.0+ and Pixel Shaders 2.0+
