Use WPA to Secure your WiFi
Rather than using WEP to secure your wireless network, the recent discoveries the WEP secured wireless networks can be cracked faster due to the flaws on the WEP protocol previously the WEP security key can be calculated in a matter of minutes by the interception of 4 million packest of data , but these days in matter of seconds, a 104-bit WEP key can be cracked in real-time using a 1.7 GHz Pentium M processor. Now even mobile phones or PDA if properly equipped can accomplish the feat. However you want to keep your network secure someones always one-step ahead trying to break into your security.
So for a more secure network use WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) protocol. Now how can you accomplish the task?
You start by trying to access your router’s firmware on this setup I’m using a Linksys Wireless Router, by opening up your web browser, on the address bar type in their http://192.168.1.1 usually it would ask for a username and password the default account for that would be the to leave the username blank and the password is admin but if you have changed it then put there your username and password.
You will go to your router’s firmware, click on the wireless tab and select wireless security, thne use WPA enter the necessary passphrase, and just click on save settings and you’re done. Good luck and have fun with you’re newly secured wireless network.
