I really have to thank Sarfaraz Rydhan at Case-Mod.com for sending all this stuff to us. Not only did he hook us up with the RaidMAX A288 aluminum case, but threw in a red cold cathode tube, 2 clear 80mm case fans with blue LEDs, and 3 steel braided rounded cables that glow in the dark. He also sent 3 bright LEDs but I didn't get them installed in time for this review. I will add them later though, along with a few more mods I have planned for this rig.
As you can see, this is a very nice looking case. It is extremely light and has a prefab window in the side that is nicely done, and stylish. Instead of the plain-jane square window, RaidMAX decided to put an "X" through it, with a 80mm clear case fan right in the middle. X is good. Anything with an X on it automaticly scores point with me, since a big fat X is part of the PCExtreme logo...
Everything about this case is high quality. No cheapo box here. This thing comes with just about everything you can think of, and a few things that are beyond what you would expect.
Here is a close up of the front panel which conceals 2 front USB ports. It also has cutouts for microphone, headphone and 2 Firewire ports if you feel inclined to add them. The front Mic and Headphone jacks would be really handy at a LAN party.
Here is the side window with the X through it and 80mm fan in the center. This is probably the most stylish prefab window I have seen. It is finished with rivets around the perimeter, which is a nice touch.
