I have an interesting problem that cropped up. I have a Dell Pentium IV 2.8 Ghz machine with 512 Megs memory in dual channel mode. I purchased two 512 Meg memory modules from Staples and added them to the computer in slots 3 and 4. Got 1.5 Gigs, but running in single channel mode. After checking with Dell support, saw that I had correctly added the memory. As a final test, I removed all memory and put the new 512 cards into slots 1 and 2. Got one gig, but running in single mode. Close examination of the cards shows one says PC400, the other says PC 400 DT. I guess that's why the computer see them as being different. Bummer. I'll put all the memory back in and run as single channel, but am ticked off.
