Remember the Traditional Eraser for Modules?

Let us travel back in time when the first Pentium was introduced in the market. Most of you may not be familiar with it but during those days, the Pentium I reigned supreme. Among their competitors were the 396 and 486 processors. I think there was even a 586!

One thing you will note though is that during these times, improvising was the measure of how effective a PC user or technician was. Trying to avoid replacing parts and discovering the tricks of malfunctioning computer parts was the craze back then and it took the help of only one simple item; a pencil eraser.

Yup, that reddish orange tip you see at the end was a very useful tool in making things work. It was recurring though. For example, a memory chip back then could be put to work by simply using the eraser to clean the teeth of the said chip. This even worked for video cards. While we are all past that, today, it does still work.

It cannot be discounted that slots would sometimes gather dust and for sure have a difficult time reading the chips to function properly. But look back again and try this trick out and you can have one last chance to see if the chip or part is indeed damaged and due for replacement.

At least, you have a last option to check if that chip can still be used or not. Rather than quickly buying a new one, at least you save on cost until the time comes it is not longer functional.

Don’t Forget to Clean the Outer PC Casing

People could care less about how their computer would look after some time. As long as it is functioning, they could care less of how it appears on the outside. But for PCs that find themselves in offices, tidiness is something that they would want to consider since at times, it would be a bit awry to see your computer turning yellowish and gathering dust due to lack of cleaning.

Surely, this is the job of the maintenance personnel or the maids. But at times, you have to consider that such a small piece of cleaning job can be done by you. There are computer cleaner solutions in the market you can use. Some use alcohol but that is not advisable. It does clean those darkened portions but after a few days, don’t be surprised to see that cleaned part turning yellow.

A lot of that is because of the reaction towards the chemical ingredients inside alcohols. That is why even if people are apprehensive in buying specified computer cleaners that is one reason since alcohol is not really mean to clean computers and external coverings.

Some use rugs that are moist but normally, it does not clean the portions properly. You can rub and rub on those surfaces all you want but in the end, you may find your efforts going for naught.

Computer Cleaning solutions don’t cost that much. Try and buy them at times to avoid seeing your computer look like a dilapidating piece of machine.

Consumers Should Thank the Computer Age

Right now, both the melamine scare and the fluctuating stock prices have overlooked one aspect, the technological aspect. For sure, we all know that if it were not for computers, how could anyone get the faster way of tracing these dreaded melamine contaminants or even monitor the current prices of stocks that are changing by the second.

Computers have been long responsible for these benefits and apparently most people are forgetting it. Could it be because they are too occupied waiting for results? Perhaps that could be acceptable. But if they are wise, they would note that such technology is something that made all of these things possible. In fact, if you look at it, you may even say that without computers, who knows when they could find out results that can make a difference to life.

Today, it is apparent that each person needs information in the fastest way possible. Computers aid them in doing so. But one thing you don’t hear is how they are able to get results and who makes it all happen.

PCs have changed the way we analyze things. It has been that since its inception. But before we go moaning about the problems that beseech us, let us not forget that computers are the main reason for making us advanced today. If only computers had the power to change these issues today, maybe they would get the recognition that they do receive. But that would be asking too much!

Add the Green Consideration in Buying a New PC

When you are in the market for a new computer, perhaps you could include among your requirements green issues like perhaps the materials to which they are made of and energy saving features that is currently among the top points that people are being encouraged to do. We are all aware that going green has been added to the fray and while many PC manufacturers claim that they adhere to such eco-friendly policies, it would be best to decide on your own on what it really means to be green.

One thing you can be assured of is that you get the best performance as well. Power saving features has to be the leading indicator of being green which is closely followed by use of other resources from perhaps recycled materials or adhering towards policies governing proper waste and reusable resources. While these are a given, it is obvious that the main point that a PC buyer would have is simply to get a PC that can function normally and according to their needs.

The real deal on why PC buyers should place emphasis on energy consumption may not be realized immediately. For one, energy consumption can really save a lot as far as bills and finances are concerned. A computer is seen as the lesser consuming gadget anywhere. But if you could get a PC that can save you a bit, you may be surprised at the impact that it may have in the long run when finances come into play.

Check out Computer Packages after a Month

Technology means fast evolution of parts and this includes introduction of new parts and peripherals that are far better than initially offered parts. Hence, the issue of knowing when to buy and when to wait is something most seasoned computer buyers normally get used to. Observe and you will see that people normally wait a month to a year before they consider buying a new computer part of an entire PC for that matter.

Why is that? For one, the value of a certain computer part depreciates fast. Unlike the traditional depreciation methods of assets, computers depreciate faster. For example, if a car depreciates according to the number of years, computers and parts may as well be seen to depreciate faster in a couple of months. You can see the price discrepancies and how the demand for them increases over time. There is simply a big difference.

PC parts come in all shapes and sizes and while that is true, you can bet that a new PC only retains its overall value for a couple of days. The next thing you know a new part like a video card or memory chip will be available in the market possessing higher value and demand. That is how fast the technological evolution process takes place.

Hence, the wise PC buyer would normally buy one after a couple of months when he notices a significant drop in prices. It may be a hard task especially for the enthusiastic PC buyer but you can just imagine at how much savings he can get by waiting just a little bit.

Deciding to Reformat Your PC

One of the hardest things to decide on is when to format your computer. When you format your PC this means permanently erasing all files that are on the computer including system and program files. Of course, before that is done, it is presumed that the files have been properly backed up or burned so that they can be restored from a CD perhaps once the entire format process has been done.

Formatting a hard drive is perhaps the easiest way out when you encounter a lot of problems with your computer. Ordinarily, it is the last resort since having to re-install that usual operating system and the programs you use have to be done one by one. Overall it would seem like a lot of work but there are some cases where you just have to re-install everything from scratch. This results normally when:

1. You Have a Virus
2. You Encounter a System Crash
3. You change Hard Disk Drives
4. You bought a new PC

One thing you can look forward to though is that you have a completely new system to which you have done away with the crash and virus issues. For sure that is quite a load off. The process may take you about an hour or so but give it some time, normally days, and you will find that you have a good as new computer in your hands.

So when you decide to reformat you computer, rest assured the whole effort is worth the wait. Just make sure you make a list of programs notes for reference in case you get lost once your PC is up and about.

Is Your PC Purely for Gaming?

These days, owning a PC is not purely for business purposes. While we all know that most people are buying computers for studies or word processing requirements, they have also been considered to appease kids who look towards them for playing games that require specific requirements such as higher video cards and large storage space.

It does seem like a waste for most but for people who want to keep their kids at home and away from vices, such is a price that is more than enough to consider. Besides, it is a matter of priorities. Improving the specs a little bit can still satisfy the need to have these personal computers be used for official ways such as documents and spreadsheets for work or school.

As far as getting more expensive hardware for a customizable PC, it is really a logical price to pay. Computers have always been known to provide entertainment and if games are something that they are keenly interested to be kept away from harm, then by all means parents should think beyond the box.

Cost is something most PC buyers will ponder upon. But while that is a given, it would be best to see which benefits and downfalls such an investment would make. As far as raising children and keeping them busy at home is concerned, buying a new PC with specialized specs is indeed something worthy parents will acknowledge not now, but in the future.

Slimmer but Pricier

Read the news and you will see a couple of new desktops in the market. Particularly in focus are the slimmer models from Dell which promise to be great space savers and are sure to compact the usual peripherals, much of which we see when we try and open our CPU. One has to wonder why old desktops need such space when in fact you can compress it by as much as 50% if you think about it.

Some point to ventilation or perhaps provisions for added parts that may be needed. But look a bit closely, unless you are a techie geek, chances are you will make do with what your CPU has to offer. There is no sense in pushing it if you don’t have the proper space for it.

One thing that these new slim line CPU’s carry though is cost and price. For sure they are going to cost mainly because they are in fashion and the fact that some of their inner components are specialized in nature, compressed as well and made from delicate technology manufacturers.

But the fact remains, will the demand for these slim lines be sufficient enough to justify the cost in manufacturing them? Perhaps! But you also have to consider demand. The number of techie people are indeed plenty but they are also wise buyers. They are not bound to bite instantly. For sure, they are aware that prices decline in time and during that period, that is perhaps the only time we can see the actual demand for these slimmer and modern PCs.
