I’ve been receiving lots of compatibility errors, issues. Don’t get me wrong I love Windows Vista, and so far it’s seem to be working fine, with the occasional issues on compatibility, drivers not supported and such but beyond that. Perfomance is good, and I’m happy with Vista.
Windows Vista : Compatibility Issues
I recently installed a game in my laptop after finding the CD of DOOM3 under my bed, One of my favorite game, when the world of PC gaming was still young. And that game is called DOOM, oh yeah…i still remember playing doom back in my high school years…playing at night with all the lights closed… this game still scares the crap out of me…
ok back to the task up hand… as I’ve recently installed DOOM3 earlier. Installation was a breeze, the only drawback is when I try to start playing the game… Vista would give me an error saying that the DOOM3 stopped working. And that Vista is fnding a Solution to the problem. I received a note that DOOM3 has compatibility Issues, that’s why it stopped working.. hrmmm.. well based on experience… Vista may have a problem recognizing the game. I know Doom3 is a bit old, it’s not their fault.
What to do:
When faced with compatility issues try these steps…(before panicking)
- Right click the application (.exe) file -> select properties
- Click compatibility tab
- In the drop down menu, choose Windows XP SP2 or whatever OS that program worked on before trying it on Vista. Check “Run this program as an administrator”
- Click Ok and Run the program again
This simple step usually fixes the compatibility problems for me.
As have posted on the blog : the QuickStop
I’ve been checking it some forums and blogs lately and I’ve noticed that some programs which won’t run on my Vista. Runs smoothly on other PC’s running Vista. That made me think is it because of the different kinds of hardware installed, or does it matter if it’s a desktop or laptop? Hrmm.. oh well.
