Corsair TwinX 1024MB XMS3700, page 3.

Overclocking:

As I said before, we are going to have to pump up the FSB from 200 to 233MHz, just to match the "stock" specs of this memory. This is going to put our 3GHz P4 at 3.5Ghz, leaving little room to push the memory beyond it's spec.

Here we are at 233MHz FSB (DDR466):

Notice that the memory timings are set to 3-4-4-7. That is not a manual setting, even though the specs say that this memory should be running 3-4-4-8 at 466DDR. So for some reason, the SPD set the timing a little tighter that it should. Hey, I'm not complaining at all! I just thought it was a detail worth mentioning...

Taking the system up to 240FSB puts the CPU at 3.6GHz, and this was about the limit on the DFI system for some reason. Still, it's not a bad overclock for a P4 3.0C system.

The ABIT IC7-MAX3 system however, was able to go bitchslap the DFI 875Pro by easily overclocking to 246.5MHz FSB, putting the CPU at a respectable 3.7GHz. This puts the Corsair TwinX1024 3700 at 493MHz with 3-4-4-7 timings. This memory can run at 500Mhz and higher, but unfortunately our 3.0C CPU is a limiting factor.

Final thoughts and Conclusion:

The main game I play lately is Battlefield 1942 - Desert Combat mod. If you play this game at all, and have 512MB or less ram in your rig, you are all too familiar with the long load times when you switch maps.

I have to say that the most impressive part of going from 512MB to 1024MB was that the map loading time in Desert Combat was reduced dramatically. I would guess that it cut the time to 1/3 of what it was with 512MB. Now that's an improvement!
Corsair memory is undoubtedly the best on the market today for the PC enthusiast or overclocker, and if you have an i875 (Canterwood) or i865 (Springdale) motherboard in your system, then you owe it to yourself to get the maximum potential out of your system with Corsair's TwinX memory. The TwinX1024 3700 memory is by far the fastest and most stable memory I have ever used. So fast in fact, that I was unable to actually push this memory to it's limits. I have been trying to get a Pentium4 2.4C to really push the limits of this memory, but unfortunately I have been able to get one in time for this review.

If you are looking for only the best memory available, there is only one choice - Corsair XMS. I never experienced a single lockup or glitch due to memory during the testing, and due to the fact that we pushed the TwinX1024 3700 well beyond its rating (493MHz at 3-4-4-7) and still never maxed it out, I am giving Corsair's TwinX1024 3700 memory a perfect 5 X's!

I have used just about every brand of memory there is, and Corsair's TwinX1024 3700 simply leaves everything else in the dust. The only memory that is any faster is TwinX1024 4000...

And for that, PCExtreme is happy to give Corsair's TwinX1024 3700 memory the 100% Extreme Award!
